SOUR WATER SYSTEM OF WARRI REFINERY

Client: Nigeria National Petroleum Co. (NNPC) For WRPC

The objective of the project was to rehabilitate and upgrade the sour water system of Warri Refinery to functional status of effective treatment of toxic sour water.
In order to achieve the projects objectives LECG implemented the following:

1. Carry out Detailed Design review of pipeline hydroulics, equipment rating, sizes, construction materials and specifications for sour water system process flow scheme.
2. Replace undersized piping and equipment with adequaly sized and fundctioning equipment
3. Upgrade all analog instruments by Digital / Electronic Control Instrumentation; Repleca FCC Unit Level Controllers with interface level detectors for more effectrive control based on Electromagnetic Waves.
4. Replace / Repair all pressure safety valves (PSV’s).
5. Carry out integrity tests by UTM and pressure tests for reusing equipment and pipe elements.
6. Rehabilitate or otherwise all pumps / electric motors of sour water system;
Mechanical Completion and Commissioning of the improved Sour System of the Refinery, with tests proving effective tracking of Hydrocarbons and Treatment of Sour Water was accepted by the Client. The Sour Water Facilities are working successfuly since commissionong.
